Privacy Policy

Shutterbench is run by David, an independent software maker who also runslightroom-tools.com. This policy explains, in plain English, what data the site handles and what it does not. Questions or requests:[email protected].

The short version

• The calculators run entirely in your browser. Your numbers, gear lists and locations are never uploaded — we never see them.
• If you join the email list, we store your email address (and nothing else) with our email provider so we can write to you.
• We use privacy-respecting analytics, and only with your consent, to see which tools people use.
• We never sell or rent your data, and we run no advertising.

The calculators

Every calculator on Shutterbench (storage, cost-of-doing-business, golden hour, print size, exposure) computes on your own device using JavaScript in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or to anyone else. There is no account, no login and no server that sees your inputs. If you close the tab, it's gone.

The email list

If you enter your email address in a signup form, we send it toMailerLite, our email service provider, to add you to our list. We store only your email address and the page you signed up from. We use it to send occasional updates about new tools and Shutterbench software — nothing else.

Signup uses double opt-in where enabled: you'll get a confirmation email and are only added once you click it. You can unsubscribe at any timeusing the link at the bottom of every email, which removes you immediately. You can also email [email protected]to be removed. MailerLite processes this data on our behalf; see their privacy policy at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Analytics & cookies

We'd like to know which tools are useful, so we use Google Analytics 4to collect aggregate, anonymised usage data (pages viewed, rough location, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies, so we only load it after you agreevia the consent banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google.

The only thing we store on your device without asking is your consent choice itself (in your browser's local storage) so we don't ask again on every page. The calculators also use local storage to remember your consent and to queue a signup if a form submission fails — never to track you. You can clear this any time in your browser settings.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site:

• MailerLite — stores the email list and sends our emails.
• Google Analytics — aggregate usage statistics (with consent).
• Cloudflare — hosts and serves the website.

We do not sell, rent or trade your data with anyone, for any purpose.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. For the email list that's a one-click unsubscribe, or email[email protected] and we'll handle it. Because the calculators never collect your data, there is nothing there to request or delete.

Children

Shutterbench is a tool for working professionals and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes to how we handle the email list will be announced to subscribers.
